A bit about me….

I have been a passionate musician for as long as I can remember. During my time at uni, I enjoyed playing classical violin in the orchestra as well as electric violin in a funky band, gigging round Cambridge.

After gaining an honours degree in music, I began my working life teaching violin and piano in a family run music school in Whitstable, Kent. This led on to running performing arts  holiday workshops and visiting different schools to present tailor-made interactive music workshops to support the curriculum.

As my family began to grow, my direction began to focus on exploring music with very young children, running music sessions for parents and little ones.

A few years later I qualified as a primary school teacher and gradually built up a vibrant music department in the school I was based. During my time there, I had the opportunity to travel and take part in performing arts exchanges with schools in both Czech Republic and Turkey, exploring different music and dance.

My work at the school included  running a wide variety of music ensembles, including orchestras, bands, choirs and drumming groups, regularly performing in a variety of venues. It was here that I discovered my love of the djembe.

I believe everyone can enjoy playing music and drumming is a great way to do it. People can energise through drumming and there’s nothing quite like being part of such a big sound!
